How to Qualify for the Australian Championships in Cross Country?
The top six placed NSW teams plus the top 15 individual competitors from Divisions 1-5 will be eligible to race in the Australian Interschools Championships. (subject always to the discretion of the NSW Interschools Committee).
At the Australian Championships, each team must have one original team member from the team that qualified.
The NSW/ACT/QLD Interschools Slopestyle Championships are on August 22 at Thredbo. Ski and Snowboard Slopestyle is available for teams and individuals in Division 1, 2 and 3 only.
Download the 2018 Slopestyle Competition guide.
How to enter: School Coordinators can enter competitors into Slopestyle events via the online entry system under the event "NSW State Championships".
Schools Coordinators Responsibility: Each school coordinator prior to entering a student in the event must deem that the student has the appropriate level of skill and experience to compete. Questions that must be asked by each coordinator to the participant are:
• Can you execute a controlled straight air on a ‘green’ or ‘S’ (Small) category jump?
• Can you execute a controlled 50/50 (snowboard) or straight grind (skier) on a 5metre box?
• Do you have the ability to ride/ ski switch in a controlled way down a blue run?
National Qualification Rule:
7.14 From the State Slopestyle Championships, up to the top fifteen individual competitors from Division’s 1-3, having received a minimum acceptable score, will be eligible to compete in the Australian Interschools Championships. There are no team invites.
For State Slopestyle competitors a minimum acceptable score (for National Championship progression) will be determined by the Interschools Committee following completion of each event, and before invitations are extended to the National level of competition. Historically this has been a score which is a minimum 45% of the total attainable score (45/100) and is often as high as 55% of the total attainable score (55/100). The minimum progression score determined by the Interschools Committee reflects the Championship Division level (competitor age), the course conditions, and the skill-level and quality of the athlete field. No National Championship points will be awarded to Slopestyle event results and only individual medals will be awarded at the National Event.
With all Slopestyle Events, no Championship School points are awarded at State or Australian Events.
Due to scheduling of the Interschools events on August 22, students will not be able to compete in both the Slopestyle and cross country events.
The Start Lists are available HERE. We encourage everyone to check that they have been entered into their qualified events and are entered into the correct division.

Course Officials Guidelines
It is very important that Volunteers understand the various Course Officials positions undertaken at Interschools events before they volunteer. We recommend that all Volunteers read the Course Official Guidelines and/or attend a Course Official Briefing.
Volunteer Check In
All Volunteers must check in before making their way to their course. Check the Volunteer Course Officials Roster for Check in Locations. Please check in 30 minutes prior to the course inspection time of your event and be on top of the course at the course inspection time.
What happens on the day if I cannot Volunteer?
Volunteer Course Officials Lift Tickets
Volunteers are entitled to a free of charge lift ticket on the day they are volunteering. This lift ticket can only be used by the Course Official if they do not already have a lift pass or season pass. Course Official lift tickets at the Interschools Race Office at the resort.
How long do I Volunteer for?
Volunteers are required to be on course 10 minutes before the course inspection time until all competitors on the course have finished their race. It is difficult to estimate how long a course takes to complete as it is determined by the number of competitors on the course, snow conditions, etc but it can take anywhere between 1.5 to 3 hours.
Please be prepared for all weather conditions when you are volunteering on our courses and make sure you have clothing options for all conditions!
Gate keepers can be the most exposed to the elements and will be standing or sitting down for the duration of the course. You will be required to write notes in this position so please bring either inner gloves or similar that you can write with.
For any enquires in regards to volunteering, please contact Wendy on 0422 240 483 or email@example.com
